Most Dangerous MC for Nas, 2024
$10,000.00
Commissioned paintings for Nas, celebrating the 30th anniversary of one of rap's greatest albums, illmatic. Andrew Agutos paid tribute to Queensbridge Housing Projects in NYC, where Nas painted the vivid pictures in his rhymes, wordplay and storytelling with the album's release on April 19, 1994.
The paintings by Andrew Agutos are included in the official '30 Years of illmatic' merch collection, including streetwear pieces such as tees, hoodies and joggers, as well as souvenir items like pins and postcards.
This particular work features a portrait of Nas based on one of his early performances on stage. The globe, painted on a separate piece of canvas taped to cardboard, is superimposed over the original composition, where the head of a mythological figure was once visible—an edit that Nas himself requested.
