Untitled Empire State Building, 2018

Painted shortly after relocating from California to New York, this piece marks a shift in both geography and artistic direction. It was Andrew Agutos’ first painting in NYC, made from a temporary apartment arranged by Victoria’s Secret during his transition into a new role with PINK. The view from the window—iconic and unmistakable—became a symbol of arrival. The style returns to a Van Gogh-inspired hand after years of working in pop and commercial aesthetics in Los Angeles, making it a pivotal and personal moment in his evolution.
