Symbol, 2021

Created in Paris as part of their first series of collaborative paintings, these works by JOMAD & ANDREW were developed while painting murals across Europe and later exhibited in the 2022 Paris exhibition Lune de Miel.

Symbol is the very first canvas that Jomad & Andrew Agutos painted together. The work features a striking face rendered in minimal, assertive strokes—half abstracted, half icon. There’s a sense of mystery and reverence in the way the face floats: disembodied, watchful, and central. It's less about identity than presence—serving as a universal emblem of memory or meaning. The piece acts as both emblem and artifact of their evolving dialogue, suggesting a shared visual code between two distinct painters.
