Mentality No. 9 - Lord of the Rings, 2025
$800.00
Introducing the Mentality series by Andrew Agutos. A series of 24 studies honoring the legacy of Kobe Bryant from various moments that defined his career.
July 18, 2002 - Straight from parading South Figueroa Street in DTLA to Harlem's Rucker Park, the Mecca of Streetball. Kobe Bryant, coming fresh off the Lakers' 3peat Championship, made his way Uptown to play in the Rucker's summer games, the Entertainer's Basketball Classic. Pandemonium met him at the cages, and of course he gave the neighborhood what they came to see. With announcer Hannibal on the mic calling the game, Lord of the Rings was given his name. Always with a way of paying homage in his own particular fashion on and off the court, there was nothing else Kobe was going to lace up on 155th street's legendary green-top besides a pair of all-white-orange-bottom UP's.
